the kiss

I got the chance to take fine art away from a canvas and put it into a piece of everyday jewellery.  By working with typical characteristics and forms of Art Nouveau I created a contemporary ring, inspired by "The kiss" by Gustav Klimt.

Art Nouveau is known for its iron curves and endless lines and for the production for the people, it made art commercial. Taking art outside the galleries and upper-class and into the homes of working class to educate and to appreciate beauty.

The Kiss by Gustav Klimt, is a piece of art that symbolises a feeling that has been known for eternity.

The ring that I created isn't only relevant to the Art Nouveau and "The Kiss", it is contemporary and shows not only the Art Nouveau style in a new way, but it shows something eternal and embracing, which everyone can relate to, no matter which century or segment you come from. It is easy to produce in a larger scale and could be made in silver as well to make it more affordable for the mass. The feeling of the ring can also easily be translated into other pieces and designs to make art even more accessible to the working class, in relation to the movement of Art Nouveau.
